Good grief. What a month it’s been. March may have begun normally enough but it couldn’t have ended more differently as we all find ourselves living in lockdown with the hospitality industry (among many, many others) facing unprecedented uncertainty.
As I find myself stumbling blindly into a new year (and a new decade no less) with no idea what day it even is, attempting to recall what happened last month is proving to be something of a mission impossible, but here’s my best shot… Feel free to fill in any blanks in the comments below!
Wow, what a month! I knew #GinADayMay would keep me busy but I didn’t expect it to be quite that bonkers. And then there were the gin releases, gin events and gin deliveries… Read on if you, like me, need a bit of a reminder of what happened this May.
You might just about tempt me with gin-cured salmon during the festive season but, to be honest, the only place I really want to find gin at Christmas is under the tree or in my glass! Here are seven cracking cocktails to see you through the bleak midwinter.
Imbibe Live is Europe’s largest on-trade drinks exhibition, showcasing an intimidating number of beers, wines, ciders and spirits. Even with my gin googles firmly on, there were more distilleries present than I could shake an empty glass at. With so much to see and so little time, I opted to skip past some of the more familiar (at least to me) and well-established brands, such as Sipsmith and Southwestern Distillery, but also, regrettably, missed out a few of the newer kids on the block like One Gin. Nonetheless, I definitely still succeeded in trying more gins than is probably wise on a Monday afternoon!
